Windows XP Services - COM+ System Application Service

Windows XP Services - COM+ System Application Service

Microsoft Description:

Manages the configuration and tracking of Component Object Model (COM)+-based components. If the service is stopped, most COM+-based components will not function properly. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend onit will fail to start.

Importance of COM+ System Application Service

  • Basically, this is the application controls COM+ Event System. One of the support files that you'll probably never have any use for, but if you disable it, the warning notices you receive are worse than leaving it enabled. Disabling this service will generate Event Log entries.

  • The COM+ system application hosts COM+ services and manages COM+ application configuration and tracking.

  • COM+ applications will not work if the COM+ system application is disabled, also you will not be able to administer anything to do with COM+ or OLE registrations on the system.

  • If you disable the MS DTC (Microsoft Distributed Transaction) service, any COM+ system applications will fail because this service needs local transactions to maintain its state.

This service depends on the following system components:Remote Procedure Call

There is a great tool Digeus I recommend it when system hangs. I also recommend Windsty Tune Up Suite. It prevents BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), restores your system to healtry state.
