Speed Up Windows 7 Using Ready Boost

Windows ReadyBoost allows you to add a non-volatile USB 2.0 flash memory drive to improve memory performance on systems that have less than 1GB of memory. This is is a great feature to use if you have a computer that is difficult to upgrade the random access memory (RAM) like a the new and very popular MINI computers on the market.

Windows 7 ReadyBoost is very easy to use. Once you add a USB flash drive to your computer Windows 7 checks to see if the performance is fast enough to work with Windows ReadyBoost. If so, you are asked if you would like to use this drive to speed up Windows 7 system performance. You can choose to use all of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive or part of it.

Steps for setting up Windows 7 ReadyBoost

1. Plug a flash drive or flash memory card into your computer.

2. In the Autoplay dialog box, under General options, click Speed up my system.

3. In the Properties dialog box, click the ReadyBoost tab, and then do one of the following:

  • To turn ReadyBoost off, click Do not use this device.

  • To use the maximum available space on the flash drive or memory card for ReadyBoost, click Dedicate this device to ReadyBoost. Windows will leave any files already stored on the device, but it'll use the rest to boost your system speed.

  • To use less than the maximum available space on the device for ReadyBoost, click Use this device, and then move the slider to choose the amount of available space on the device you want to use.

7. Click OK.

If you decided to use all the available space of the removable device, then you will not be able to use the device to save files.

You will notice significant improvement with the performance and speed of your computer right away.

If you decide to stop using the removable device for ReadyBoost, simply go to "My Computer" and right-click on the removable device. On the properties, go to the "ReadyBoost" tab and choose "Do not use this device".
ReadyBoost is an easy upgrade to your memory capacity to speed up your computer and improve performance.

There is tool named as Digeus Registry Cleaner I use it when there are problems with operational system. I also recommend to use Tune Up Suite. It prevents BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), restores your system to healtry state.
